Doc & Trayvon - JustUs Journal
In 2016, Doc curated Dialogue, an interactive, multimedia exhibit exploring the state of Black Men in America. Dialogue raised questions about a cycle of criminalization connecting the pre-school to prison pipeline to policing practices and prison policies.
At the center of this exhibit was the Black Suns Cemetery, featuring paper máche headstones and a tin-can wall of prayers for the Black lives lost at the hands of the police.
Doc&Trayvon
Doc&Trayvon is the pinnacle photo taken at the exhibit. It was the death of Trayvon Martin that motivated Doc to begin working with BIPOC students on community advocacy projects. Spotlighting Trayvon being cradled by Doc at the Black Suns Cemetery united them as a front against the cycle of criminalization.
JustUs Journals
JustUs Journals are a collection of journals, planners, and content creation workbooks designed to keep us personally grounded, culturally centered, and socially creative. We aimed to combine the best components of bullet journaling with our need to plan and ideate simultaneously.
Whether you are a writer who needs lines to fill with words, an artist who expresses oneself through a blank page, someone who brainstorms on dotted paper, or a content creator for social media—there’s a JustUs Journal for you.
